artSPEAKS

artSPEAKS, an ongoing collaboration between the William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund and Art with a Heart, engages children and families affected by Sickle Cell disease in fun and inspiring art projects. During September, National Sickle Cell Awareness month, Art with a Heart is conducting two artSPEAKS workshops. The first workshop took place at Druid Hill Park on September 10th where children and their families created spirit people using recycled objects. The second artSPEAKS workshop was held on September 17th at The Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. where participants worked on several mosaics that spelled out "Imagine" and "Educate." The next workshop will be in November in Wilmington, Delaware, and the concluding event will be at Georgetown Hospital.
