East Baltimore Community School Mosaics (2011)

In only six, 1.5 hour classes, 6th and 7th grade students at East Baltimore Community School learned the fundamentals of creating a mosaic, such as forming a cohesive image with colors and designs, cutting and nipping glass and mirror, and grouting. They completed this stunning 5'x3' mosaic, entitled "Soaring," to beautify their school.

During the second semester at East Baltimore Community School, students drew their portraits on carbon paper which was then transferred to the the mosaic. For the first time, students in Art with a Heart classes designed their own 3"x2.5" mosaic that is proudly displayed in their school.
